Adding batteries to a Ford F250?

Are you going to add the third battery or remove one of the existing and add that one in there? If your going to add it, you will be fine but do not remove one of the factory batteries and put that one in it's place. The diesels do not like that and it will kill both batteries more quickly. You can fit both stock batteries on the passenger side and add the third battery to the drivers side but it takes a little fabricating. You need a certain CCA (cold cranking amp) for the motor to turn over quickly in cool to cold weather. I doubt that 600 has the correct CCA rating. The factory batteries are 750 CCA each.

No, it does not matter which battery you connect to but I always connect to the passenger side because it has the charge cable from the alternator hooked to it and then a power wire to the drivers side battery.

The vehicle has two batteries already, why do you need a third or want to just change one out?

No i wasn't going to take a factory battery out just add a third one. I don't have a real good reason, I just don't want to put a heavy load on my factory electrical system. Thanks for the info.

Your two batteries should hold up fine unless you have some very large amps. You can get a 200 amp alternator for $250 for our trucks. They are somewhat cheap compared to most other vehicles. You can get a 300 amp unit for around $500 if you wish.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The batteries need to have a minimum of 700-750 Cold Cranking Amps each. If those batteries have that, then yes. Especially if you live in a cold climate area. I know a few that use one big Odyssey on their race trucks but that's only used to start them at the track and not over and over again through out the day.
