Yes it can be done. No it's not simple. You will need an extra brack/mounting arm. It will possibly have to be custom fabricated. I'd externally regulate the second alternator. I'd also isolate it from the rest of the electrical system.

sorry bout that and thats what i was going to do isolate the alt, and whats the hard part? getting it mounted or wired, and do you know where can i get extra brack or mounting arm at

u have to make your brackets... prolly cost 300 bucks just in brackets and that is even if u can find someone to do it .... it takes hours of cutting , testing, and welding brackets... unless u have MAJOR stereo equipment it isnt worth it.

to wire it up you need an external regulator plain and simple..... u have to have a dummy regulator built into the alt... wire the field wire to the field portion of your regulator pos wire to the pos portion of the reg and ground the reg at the ground pin......

You wouldn't NEED an external regulator. Just get one that is self-exciting, also known as a one-wire alt. No problems. As has already been stated, the implementation of mounting and the drive situation will be the biggest obstacles.

Yes, Externally regulated can be set to output whatever voltage you want. One Wire units are often standard 14.4 output. You would have to Isolate the ENTIRE system in order to just have that ALT output over 15V (over 15.5 would make me nervous in most new cars - some items are a bit sensitive to spikes and overvoltage)

That includes isolating the case from common ground, run separate power/grounds to rear. If this is for a show car it is doable, for a daily driver forget it. The gain is minimal at best over a HO ALT on a daily driver. The cost of the Bracketing//fabrication is better spent on a HUGE battery
