hey im adding a 1000 watt amp to my system for the subwoofer i should be receiving soon. what im not sure is how i should do my wiring. right now i have 8 gauge power cable going to my components amp. i'm going to replace the 8 with 1-gauge wiring and then have it split to two 4-gauge (one for components one for sub). do i have to use a FUSED distribution block? they're pretty spendy.. 40 bucks or so. what if i use the ground distribution blocks($10), which basically aren't fused.. will that work?? also, will my stock alternator and battery be enough to run this setup if i do big three with 1/0 gauge?

Ground distro blocks run 2 wires into one wire for a single ground. So no. If you wanted to, you could get a regular distro block and then put a fuseholder to each 4 ga wire to each amp. Otherwise spend the $40.

you should be fine with a regular dist block. i wouldnt get the fused one. also - you dont even really need to be using that 1ga wire ... maybe run some 4ga to the dist block and then have 8ga going to each amp. you should also check to make sure that your amps have built in crossovers, if not i would definitly get an external crossover
