Add a cap or upgrade the battery?

what kinda system do u have? amps? what is the problem u are having. cause using caps might help if it isnt that much of a power struggle. (imed gona get flamed for this)
you're right.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif :furious: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif :furious: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hide.gif.2d479cfd917eedfe201353b91522ceab.gif

nothing is ever helpful when they just say search. But the more i think about it, the more it doesnt make sense. More than likely, EVERY question posted on this forum has been answered at one time or another in the past. So why tell them to search, isnt it just easier to give them the answer?

By the way, i say like most others. big 3 and then MAYBE a yellow top if needed.

Definetly NOT a cap, they are proven to be worse on an already bad electrical system. Uprgade big 3, bat or alt, all three, or a combination of the 3, that is sure to help out, rather then put a band-aid on the situation.

Do the "big 3" first then consider the battery......Caps are just eye candy....rather useless IMHO
Depends on the amp if caps do any good. A fully regulated amp like a JL /series, Zapco, etc. won't benefit much, but something loosely regulated like a Dls Ultimate, can very much benefit with added dynamic headroom. Do the big three first though. If in your amps specs it makes the same wattage regardless of system voltage (12v or 14v) then a cap won't help much.

thanks for a ton of replies, reason I asked without searching was because I was on my way to pick up my car from the shop, wanted to decide while I was there.I am runin 3 mtx 5500's in a downfire sealed box(sorry 12")with a vent in the rear deck,to let the bass vent, powered by a 1605d brutus. Ended up throwing in a fosgat 1 farad while I was there, since they did it for 120$ Installed, while I waited them to finish up trim panels an such.So far no dimming at all, even at idle.I suppose I throw in an optima when I upgrade to the focal mids an highs an throw in another amp.

Reason people say a cap is bad is because when your electrical system already sucks, adding an appliance which demands attention from the starving alternator (to charge itself), it will only cause more problems.

well if you get a cap, speaking in general, noticed that you got one already. rule of thumb is to get 1 farad for every 1000w of amp power.

I agree with most everyone else all together. a cap should be a last resort after all other options have been exausted, and problem still exist.

I did it just as a "what if" I suppose an it worked out well.I think my plan is another cap when I put a second 800watt 4 channel in when I upgrade the mids an highs as well as a optima yellow top,for now very happy an it seems I got bit by the audio bug once again, been out of it way to long.
