Adapter for Installing Kenwood

Hiya ,

I have a 92 Geo Storm and I'm looking for somewhere that I can purchase the wiring adapter that runs from the oem harnness to a Kenwood KDC 1032 ...Do they make an aftermarket adapter kit for this?

Yep - there are aftermarket adapters made expressly for this purpose.

They are available at Best Buy, Cicrcuit City, most any car audio retailer you might have available locally...shoot, even WalMart carries them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Expect to pay in the neighborhood of $10-$15 for this adapter.

What they do is connect wire for wire to the wiring harness for your Kenwood CD player going color for color, stripe for stripe. Ergo - red from the CD player to red on the adapter, green with a black stripe on the CD player to green with a black stripe on the adapter and so on and so forth.

Once all those connections are made (and please be certain that these connections are solid and insulated well as to prevent possible shorts caused by stray strands of wire escaping from a poorly covered splice. Soldered connections covered with heatshrink is likely the best method but anything that is secure will do) you simply plug the whole affair into the already-present Geo (Isuzu in your case) wiring behind the dash that connected the factory stereo.

Crutchfield has the one you'd need for $12.99.

After shipping, however, it would be right at $20 and I'm certain you can get what you need cheaper locally.

Here it is, though, to give you an idea of what you're looking for. The bare ends of the wiring connects to your CD player's wiring.

The other end plugs right into the OEM wiring harness behind the dash.

Easy as pie!
