Active set up

I've been reading alot about components and building an active set seems to be the way to go if i'm going to spend 300-400 bucks on a set. I did some reading about active and understand the basic idea. My front stage is much more important to me than the sub I pick. I would just want a 2-way set. I'm just looking for a gereral idea on what speakers and crossovers to look into. And I would also need 2 amps that are 2 channel or a 4 channel amp correct? Also, would this be a good way to install my speakers? (This is the same truck as mine)

Or should I place the tweeter in the factory dash location?

Active refers to electronic crossovers, so you have three choices. Head Unit, external unit, or amps on-board crossovers.

In my experience, option 3 is least desired, option 1 is most desired just because you can get to it easier. I have not compared head unit crossovers to external active crossovers head to head.

I run a Pioneer 880 Head unit to Digital Designs S4a. The tweeter is Rainbow Cal27 and Midbass is Hertz Space 8.

So to answer your question....4 channel amp. You need four channels of amplification. Whether you want two 2 channels or one 4 channel is up to the end user.

I cannot see photographs so I cannot account for the picture.

Ok, well right now I just have an Eclipse CD3100 and it dont have the crossover I would need. My amps crossover's only go up to 270 so I would need a crossover alone. The pic has the mid and the tweeter next to each other using mdf.

So you would need an external one. Arc Audio makes this combo with a really nice EQ and crossver. If the Zune ever gets half-way decent aftermarket support, I am going to give up on CD players entirely.

I dont know about the deck but i'm pretty sure i'm staying with my Eclipse. If I got different amps what crossover would I need for an active set up? I looked at the JL300/4 and its (50-5000 Hz, 12 or 24 dB/octave) So I would think that would work well?

Could someone atleast tell me if thats a good place to install the tweeter? Or should I put where a kickpanel would go? I wouldnt think the dash would be a good place.
