Active set up

Ok, what exactly is needed to put together a active setup? Do I need two amps to run the speakers, a two channel or a 4 channel? I know a tweeter, 4in mid and a 6in mid is needed for the speakers. What type of xover do I need? I assume my Eclipse 8454 will do the job?

Thanks in advance.

This is just me and my old age probably tlking, but IMO too much chit too worry about. get a nice set of comps with good passive XOs and call it a friggin day. I am so into the KISS method though, it aint funny. To me the idea of 30 band EQs, active 3 way XOs, and 3 amps just for the front stage is just too much chit for a car. Call me crazy.

I did not know you need 6 channels of amplification.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Active means each channel is indepent. The xo feeds tweeter channels, mid channels and, woofer channels. Upside is there is a lot of tweaking that can be done to address any shortcomings. Downside is more compexity in dealing with shortcomings.

not necessarily 6 channels of amplification. its a channel per speaker in order to go active. also you need at least a 3 way xover if you are running a 3 way setup and 4 a xover if running a 4 way setup.
