you have NO CLUE what your talking about... its going to measure the signal if its DC.. your talking about a clipped wave, and a meter WILL measure that too, depending on how hard you clipp it...
I'm an EE and I have no clue what I am talking about, good one.

What? It will measure the signal Regardless if its AC or DC, I can take my DMM put it on DC and measure an AC signal just fine, it wont be accurate at all but it will still show numbers....

take your multimeter put the leads in the wall socket and put it on DC voltage, does it read out? if so you have a shitty meter.. the current doesn't alter in a DC system no way it will measure DC on the ac setting and vice verser..

so what you say is there no difference in a DC signal and AC signal.. dude where ever you went to school, get your money back..... funny that the AC voltage was dead on.. when you clipp the outputs the signals phase is altered very shortly depending on how hard the cli.. YES a good DMM is capible of measuring it clipped hard enough..

Years ago I had a Dynaudio 30W100 that would do the same thing that has been described, the cone would "float" out at higher frequencies under high power. This was in a sealed enclosure in the neighborhood of 3 or 4 cu.ft. The problem turned out to be that the foam surround was a bit too porous and was creating a pressure offset of some type. Once I had the unit reconed with a newer style treated foam surround the problem was non-existent.
I realize in this case the enclosure was vented but based on that experience, I believe the problem is attributed to the enclosure in some regard. Not that it is of low quality or anything to that affect, just circumstantial.

Just food for thought.
Issues with surrounds are something to take into account in the design. Originally we sampled some .025" thick santoprene for surrounds and they suffered from "cavitation" or "****-back." There is a pressure difference from the inside of the box to the outside and the surround needs to be stiff enough and thick enough to support this difference. That may be along the lines of what you had seen.

Regardless of all of this talk, papermaker, if you will please send the woofer back, we will have an answer to all of this soon. The check arrived yesterday and the return label was in there with it. It could have gone back out yesterday or today but according to the tracking information it has not yet. The sooner it gets back, the sooner it can go to Bumpin Buick for the same testing and the sooner we can put all of this to rest. I'll also measure parameters to see how different they are and how much the suspension has gotten softer since it left.

No, there is obviously a difference. However I am having a hard time even reading your posts let alone comprehending what you are saying so maybe I am not understanding you correctly.

I KNOW papermakers background as well.

I don't know you or anything about you, but it is the internet and can claim anything. I split an atom yesterday and cloned a sheep //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
