Accidently put ground into 12v slot

That's because your electrical is not stout...also it is a good indication that maybe the volume knob should be counter clockwise. It could be clipping as well and it's probably distorting like a mothe (though you may not hear it as the standard distortion, it can still be caused).
Would that be the cause of the alternator? or should i just add another battery

Why are so many of you hooking amps up with the battery still connected? It takes, what, 10 seconds to disconnect the battery?
you can say that again ... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

i actually did this too, but left the power in the ground, and ground in power, and i kept burning fuses, didnt know why until i realized i had them crossed. amp still worked after that, i had a pioneer mono amp. that showed me pioneer is the bombizzle.

and yes this was when i first started getting into systems. i learned so much thanks to this site, and many people. trust me that will never happen again.
