I just got a 370z. (It has the worst stock stereo I have heard in a car since the Chevy Corsica). I want to add a sub and I already replaced my door speakers. The sub I am going to use is an IDQ12 v2. It is rated for .65 - 1.0 Cubic Feet.

this is the box I want. It is the only design for my car that I have found. A couple people make it but they are all the same size. It is 1.18 cu ft. I can get a dual 12 with up firing mounts (.675cuft/chamber). I don't really want the subs that close to my ears, and I think I only really need one anyway.

Is the .18 extra cu ft too far out of spec to use?

Not trying to throw this around but there is a guy on Caco that has a 350 that has subs you might want to talk to.

.6 is really low for most 12's. honestly unless they are super sensitive subs, 1 12 would sound better and louder.

the idq12v2 will sound fine in that box. if you want you can place some wood in there to take up the .18 air space

The sub will take up some room anyways, so it'll be seeing closer to 1ft^3 after it's all said and done. It's always good to start off too big than too small...

Thanks. I built a box that is a .75 cu ft for it but that is in my other car (broke down) I really like the way it sounded. I was running MB Quart discus 2150 bridged for 600rms. reviews I read on the IDQ's said they were way under rated at 350rms. Since my 370z only has front door speaker (infinity kappa 63.9's) and stock tweeters in the dash. I am thinking about simplifing the wiring and running an Avionix axa440.4 amp. The fronts are 2ohm getting 110rms and the sub would be bridged to get 220 at 4ohms. Is is safe to run different ohm loads on the same amp?

Avionix amps are rated @ 12.5v (atleast that is what is advertised on the T curcuit amps). They don't give that figure on the A/B amps. All the reviews I have read on them say they are underrated and good strong amp. I do know my car charges close to 15v on start up and will drop down to 14.4ish at it has been running awhile. If/when it gets my Kappas, I am going to replace them with CDT or image Dymanics components.

As stated that box is fine for your sub. Going up from a .75 cu ft box is going to help with the efficiency of the sub. It should sound a bit better in the bigger box.

I am putting these subs in the 12inch dual firing box. These are meant for small spaces, anyone have advise on weather or not these will have enough air. its the same speaker as in the link but mine are 12's not 10's.
