AC delco Remy Alt Wiring

anyone know how to wire a AC Delco Remy Alt I believe there is a trigger wire involved to activate the fields and charge the system. I have a re-packed Delco alt for HO and when i installed it I cannot get it to charge above 12.2 at idle it is a 4 pin connector and i believe there is only one wire utilized on the S10 models. any help is appreciated.
