about to wire up 4 480w computer power supplies together.

ive seen it done safely before, i just needed to know to do it parallel. when i blow up, ill have pics ready //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

i'm no electrician but how would 2 independent PSUs physically be wired together via the same wire(s)?
That's 2 separate regulators trying to control the same 12v run... That sounds safe.....

I could understand getting a SINGLE RAIL PSU and wiring all of it's 12v wires together BUT.... PSUs do not offer 12v grounds capable of grounding the 12v power they output...

Ah HAh! didnt think about that did ya?

Try buying an 80A single rail PSU for $180 and try grounding up to 80A worth through the 12v ground wires... fire will occur unless psu goes up in smoke first.
I would think that diodes would be necessary to keep the computer power supplies from back feeding into one another.

Regardless, I'll just stick to my Iota DLS-55.

Generally Computer PSUs will not operate in parallel, since they are controlled by an increase of voltage on the output after the SMPS has been turned on, if that 12V is there when you turn it on, the PSU will not turn on. You can modify it, but I am not about to give a tutorial or instruct you how to do so.
