?about red ring of death!!

my screen started freezing on me to, then i tried to play ncaa 06, froze up, restarted and got the red rings. Needless to say i wanted to throw it through the window, because i only had it 6 months and it did that.

yeah the same thing happened to me the first time after about 7 months, very little play, and its sitting in free air!!

it froze again.......im about to get really pissed.....

sad thing is i got mine in march, a friend of mine got one when they first came out, hasn't had a single problem with it

mine always did that on ncaa 06. then i put it in the closet til halo 3 came out. No problems since, guess it was just that game

it was also happening on mlb 2k6, and nba2k6 so it wasn't just the game, i think i might be selling the 360 and getting a ps3

microsoft will warentee that too- doesnt take that long ot get ur system back- might want to go that road instead of just giving up.

i guess both of you didn't read the entire thread, he sent his in to get repaired, got it back, now the refurb unit is freezing up...

im pretty sure this summer...3 year warranty only applies if you get the red rings..otherwise its still a year....but its as easy as you get the red rings call them, they send you a box and free postage....sucks cause it takes a month and you dont get yours back, you get someone elses refurb back....but at least they are owning up to their mistake....my ps2 died 3 days after the warranty was up and they wanted 179 to fix it.....you could buy a new one for 199 lol

so why not take it back or call MS? its warrantied for a year

Talked with MS Thursday, 3 year covers every thing the 1 year did. I just sent mine back for a disc error.

yeah im getting pretty mad right now.....tried another game, tried all the troubleshooting things on the xbox site and after about 10 minutes it just goes black...i never get the red rings but it either freezes up or goes black.....slowly turning into a sony and mac fan......

**update** im an idiot...ha ha issue fixed, refurbed unit so far so good. had the power supply sitting behind the xbox inside my entertainment center.....apparently the power supply likes to get hot and needs to breath....whoops.....took it out the entertainment center and sat it on the floor...been playing for hours no probs.....

refurb so far so good***knocks on wood****

bought the nyko intercooler.....im pretty impressed...its loud but keeps the unit extremely cool....casing doesnt even get warm now.....with the surround sound turned up you dont notice the noise but if you are playing without sound its extremely noisy....

atleast it was a simple fix, and you didn't have to return that one back to microsoft and have to wait for yet another one

is this the cooler with the 3 fans that attaches to the back of the 360? if so i've heard some bad things about that one messing up the 360.
