?about red ring of death!!

so i got the red ring tonight on the 360. 3 times it just froze and now it wont even start up.

my question is : i know that they just extended the warranty to 3 years but if im still under a year (9 months) can i just take it back to best buy and will they replace it or do i still gotta go through xbox.

just curious until i take care of it tomorrow.

If you got a warranty through Best Buy for a year, and if you make a big enough stink about it, you'll walk home with a new one most likely.

ah i dont believe the warranty through best buy mine just falls under the original 1 yr warranty by xbox so i figured maybe best buy might just replace it for me......i remember when my ps2 broke i took it back to sears and they gave me a new one so just wondered it itd be the same deal...

i know xbox will fix it for free itd just be much easier if best buy might actually let me exchange it for a new one...i doubt it though.

It's worth a shot. If it's not too far of a drive, I'd give it a go.

As for sending it into Microsoft, I did that and the projected return date was over a month. So instead of making me wait, Microsoft sent me a brand new one in the box I shipped it to them in. What was going to be a month, turned into two weeks and a brand new 360.

my 360 went out on me a week or so ago, sold mine on craigslist for $170 cash

also sold two wireless controllers for $60, now have almost enough to buy a brand new 360

you dont have to send ms the hard drive just the console itself unclip the hd and keep it and put 360 in the box and send away.

the towel trick is real it simply forces the console to overheat to the point that the stickypad between the cpu/gpu and heat sink liquefies again and makes a arguably better contact .but i wouldnt do it as it can cause more harm then good.

as for the two wii's im guessing one is domestic ones for imports other than that no clue im pretty sure cheapy d speaks japanese as he is currently living there but thats just a wild guess.

u need to call microsoft, they will be the ones to replace it, not best buy

Now if you get a refurbished 360, does it contain the same warranty as the original, just takes over where the original left off?

My friend's 360 bit the big one, but never got the three red spots. However, it doesn't even turn on anymore. So what's MS going to do, call a customer a liar when they are on the brink of a lawsuit and the joke of media and build quality? *

my brother bought one at wal-mart and the red ring happened. had to send it to MS and they sent him a new one, not a refurb

if your receipt is still under instore warranty, take it to the store. i sent mine infor repair last week, had it for almost a year, didnt cost me a dime.
