Well some of you know my 94' Z28 got totaled. I bought it back and still have all the equipment from the old system. So right now I have an Alpine CDA-9833, a set of Boston Acoustic 3-way 6.5 Pros, 2 12" Alpine Type X's, 1 Alpine MRV-F545, 2 Alpine MRD-M1005's, and two caps.
To replace my Camaro I got a 2005 GTO. I'm happy with the car, and not really sure if I want to add a ton of weight like I did in the Camaro... though I want a nice SQL system. I'm not sure if I am willing to take out the back seats for the subs like I did the Camaro, but since I never really have more than 1 other person with me it's an option. Though I'm not really wanting to tear into this new car like I did my Z28.
I'm more leaning towards SQ this time. I porte the Type X's last time and they were so-so in the SQ department. I've heard they sound amazing sealed, so that could be something to do. Though I was thinking of selling them for some W6v2's, or something among those lines. Though I don't think a W6v2 would be able to handle 1000WRMS.
So now I have a few choices. Reading up on the GTO forums some guys are taking out the stock 6.5" drivers in the rear and replacing them with 8" subs. This would be a good space/weight saving ideal. Though the problem is they would pretty much have to be IB, the gas tank is 10" or so below the drivers, so glassing something in there would be very hard.
Or there is the option of glassing 1 or 2 10-15" subs in the trunk. Which is fine, but the trunk is pretty small, so not much room to work with.
The last option if I decide to do so (which I'm not wanting to) would be to take out the rear seats and put the subs there. I've never used them to this day, and almost never will... but they are nice to have when I need them.
I may glass the doors for the three ways. Though I think I may sell them for some Rainbow Kick Bass, or some BA Z6's. Any ideas on equipment or the install would be welcome.
