? about aero port length

whats up guy...so here the deal, im building a aero ported box for one re audio mx 12. my box is about 2.2 cubes after displacement of sub (i kno w thats kinda snug but thats i the room i have right now i think it will still sound good) i also wanna use a 3" port, anyway so after some research i came up with a port lenght of 5.3" tuned to 34 hertz w one port (i only want one port) does this sound about right? thanks in advance

ok on that site i put in a 4" diameter port which comes out to a length of 10.3" which is too long for my box...at the bottom its says taht if this is the case use a smaller diameter, so i put 3" as dia. and get 5.3 but then splumenator said to use at least a 4" dia port ???im confused

If you have a 2.2 cube box it should fit a 4" port but that is tooo small. You need a 6 ideally.

3" is far too small. My Dayton 8" in my car gets port chuffling with a 3" precision port aero. Your MX is just going to compress the port and you'll lose output and will just have port noise. A 4" aero might be sufficient, but I'd go with a 6 just to be safe. And it has to be an aero, not just a round port. I'm not going to get into the physics of what flaring the port does, but just trust me that if you're going to use a round port, make sure it's flared and flared at BOTH ends. A flare at one end does not constitute an aero.

If the port is too long, you can always mount it externaly and have the port protruding out of the box

Im sorry but for most daily drivers, that is just too hideous. I am in no way an aesthetics first guy, but I really don't want to open my trunk and see that sitting there :barf:

lol...its not done yet....im gona make it look somewhat decent. and its not going in a trunk, its going in a regular cab truck. I wanted to be able to change tuning easily...
