I have a 3 in aero that i need your help to find the length of.... I'm looking for SQ!!!! I have a box that is 29.5x13.5x13.5 the wood is .75 mdf.... which give me 28x12x12 minus the displacement of a DC lvl 4 10" and whatever the port length is.......... what is a good length for me? Tuned to 28?

you mean 19.5 hopefully not 29.5 right? if so thats 1.4 cubes so about .1 displ. for the 10 would be 1.3 cubes with a 3 inch aero it needs to be about 12-13 inches long to get 30-32 htz tuning. 28 htz is little low but if ya want 28 its 16 inches

well too bad man it is 29.5

so i mean its 28x12x12

A 3" aero for that sub will cause your port to flow as smoothly as pushing a hotdog through a drinking straw. At the very LEAST, you need a 4", but I'd personally just go for a longer 6". There's no point in using aeros if you're still getting compression.

i am going to have to disagree with you. if he used a 6" port his port would have to have more volume than his box itself. also for a box that is around 2 cubes, a 3" aero is plenty enough. if it was 2 cubes or more net , a 4" would be necessary. also with his tuning so low he's not going to get enough compression in his box to affect sound, he's gonna have a near flat response.

ok so 29 is right? well that would be like over 2 cubes for a 10. thats not right man. should only be like a cube or so at biggest. and for aeros go with 8-12 inches per cube of port.

4 inch aero= 12.xx inches of port area

6 inch aero = 27.xx inches of port area

I didn't even see the dimensions, but a 3" aero is far too small. I am using a 3" aero in a 1.1 cube box for a 8W7 on 450 watts. That thing gets serious port noise when it's working. That DC is going to be on another level.

so what ur saying is if i have a kicker comp 12 which recomends 2 cubes ported and then have a RE XXX 12 which requires 2cubes ported and put a 4" aero in each box they are both going to have the same amount of port noise?

even though the kicker displaces around 44 cubic inches of air and the xxx displaces around 250 cubic inches of air?

Exactly what I was getting at. The size isn't as important as the amount of air the speaker is stroking.

Consensus? haaha well im going to use the 3 incher then move up to a 4 inch if the port noise is bad....the box should be around 1.85 after displacment is what i calc..
