About $2 billion in economic stimulus rebate checks are being confiscated

i wonder how many dead beat dads there are on here that have thousands of dollars in their system and dont pay support. id be willing to bet its a decently high number.
Child support is too high anyway. It seems to me to be more about punitive damages to the father rather than the marginal cost of the additional child.

eh, its not too high in all cases. my ex brother-in law is self employed and makes 100,000+ a year and he got off cheap because there are special rules for self employed men. hes a pretty good guy though cause he pays a couple hundred more just because he wants to and realizes his minimum was way to low.

How does the marginal cost of the additional person change with the amount one makes? For instance, it the cost to keep a child fed and clothed is minimal compared to what child support charges. It does not cost $1,000 a month to raise a child. That is simply false.

i think the program isnt so much geared toward how much it takes to raise a child as much as its geared toward keeping the childs lifestyle they would of had had their parents not split up, which i totally agree with. why should the kid have to go without things they would of had had their parents stayed together. as a kid you dont really think of whats best for you but which parent can buy you the most stuff so it prevents one kid picking the other parent based on what toys they can buy you.

that sure would be unfair to see your dad making millions and he only gives you 300 bucks a month cause thats all he is obligated to give.

This is where I disagree. I do not think anyone is entitled to anything. The child is not entitled to expensive things because of the wealth of the father. What if the dad lost his job, etc? I just disagree with any social program that creates entitlements. Fairness is for whiners.
