A Skar Surprise!

You should get some TL results(I have some from my testing)
The issue with the word "loud" is that we all interperate that differently. My loud is over 150db were yours may be 135ish(which is about what its doing).

Not knocking your testing, just wanting clarify a few things.

Stick to facts and not opinions for the most part. Try and implement frequency response and compare to other similar subs you have tested in similar applications/power.

Also, clamp the power being used so that there are no "around" or "about" in the RMS figures for power used. Also, figured the exact air space and tuning to keep things more clear for all readers.

In your conclusion restated the facts and then toss in your opinion based information.

Again, not bashing, just trying to help you out if you want to actually have a good review.
If he considers 135db loud does anyone really give a **** what he says about anything?

All in good time, sir. As said, this was an initial report, after short amount of play time. The box IS 1.7(1) @ 31hz. Sub up, port back in a Suzuki SX4. Don't have a TL, nor is there one near me anymore (to my knowledge), which is a major shame. If there is a nashvillean with a TL, PM me so I may request your service.

This is not a SPL trial, so it will be quite subjective. I am not a basshead, nor do I care to be, thus you would be correct with my definition of "loud" measuring anywhere from 135-140db. I would approximate that range by ear, and hopefully will confirm via TL, for those interested.

Obviously you may not, which is more than fine. If it is not in the realm of your rational thought to realize that "loud" is not the end-goal of everyone, I shrug this off without as much as a second thought.

As said before, this is not a SPL test. I find little attraction to the SPL world, thus I am conducting a different approach.

Thank you for the posts, and a good day to you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well we are bassheads, and Skar subs are a vehicle for the company's owner to profit as much as possible from. Greed is why people don't like him, not because of anything else, the character trait "greed" says more about someone's ethics and their willingness to do whatever it takes to make the most profit, including selling $20 subs for $150.

If you're going to buy crap why overpay?

$66 = Amazon.com: Infinity Reference 1262w 12-Inch 1200-watt High-Performance Subwoofer (Dual Voice Coil): Electronics

Greed, as you call it, is the cornerstone of every profitable business ever established. Without greed, everything would be non-profit. Hard to single out a single business. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also, on a personal note, and despite what notions others may have, the owner has been very approachable, amiable, and generous in his time and resources to me, for what it's worth.

Best wishes to all, I'll report back with more "subjective data" when this thunderstorm allows it.

Also, if a confirmation of it's SPL abilities is wanted, you will not struggle in finding many TL'ed results proving this aspect. Anton Miller @ SSA comes to mind.

My objective is not to re-prove what is already proven, but to try and examine what hasn't been. Its uses as more than a number-maker. Which is quite subjective. Stay tuned, tune out, it's all good to me.

Come over tomorrow and I can give you a guess too.

Indeed greed makes the world go round in to an extent anyway.

I was only referring to SPL as a relative number for others to consider as an "output number" to understand the subjective view of "loud". That way a small understanding can be made from all who read it. I'm not a crazy bass head for daily, but I just have a different view of "loud" thus a review even a subjective review could push my thoughts one way or another on the sub. If the subjective view pushed me to buy it and I was let down by the product it could produce more negative views, when it was really just a misconception by the me(the buyer).

With that said, I think you will do fine for sure. I will try and track down a TL for you though. I'm sure there are a few in your area.

Thank you for the insight and the words. I will be sure to make a distinction from subjective thoughts and measurable facts to avoid any confusion. With the decent amount of Skar TL results posted, hopefully that area has been made somewhat clear. Let me know about the TL hunt.

Best wishes,

B'G.

No, putting a value on your labor and or legwork is called making a living. Greed is selling a $20 sub for $150 instead of $125, $100, $75 or any lesser ammount. Furthermore, sending some cad drawing -- that took 20 minutes to draft -- to some random Chinese factory, or much worse yet choosing some premade subs from a random Chinese catalog and telling them to produce them for an end cost of $20/ea. is not doing a lot of work, compared to say if he paid American citizens to assemble subs made of parts manufactured on American soil. Again greed. Don't expect a good product lol, the owner knows you people will buy anything cheap and rave about "they are good for the price" lol...stupid sheep..

Other dude JUST said the ones he tested wore out in a week!! ROFL why would anyone ever buy these?

speaking of greedy, you run sundown. you should have a good realization of how outrageously expensive their stuff is.

I appreciate the world you're trying to live in. I really do. Unfortunately it's not the same one the rest of us inhabit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No hard feelings, and best wishes nonetheless.
