my subs were working fine...then i decided to put in a test tone just to hear it. when i put it on it worked fine...tried a few different ones and everything was cool. then all of a sudden the bass stopped and the amp was off. i looked at the fuse holder and there isnt even evidence of a fuse being in there!!! looks really weird...and the wire looks kinda black like it started to burn...what the hell is going on here???

there was a fuse...but i dont know what happend to it...you can see stuff inside like the fuse melted and leaked out...but its really weird...

if you put waaayy too much current through it, it overheated and caught on fire temporarily before the fuse had a chance to blow. That's why its recommended to fuse as close to the battery as possible.
The current is the same throughout the wire, so fuse placement would have no effect.

but placing the fuse close to the battery minimizes the length of unfused wire which also reduces the chance of that wire shorting out to the frame and causing a fire.

yea mine is like a few inches away from the batt....should i cut off the piece that turned black and re connect the fuse holder...matter or fact i think im guna have to change that fuse holder...its life it about over...
