A Question for everyone

The thing is I had 2 of these before and I blew the shit out of them. But I had broke them in free air and they aren't free air speakers. Right before they went out I got the smell I 'm getting now like 10 times how it smell now and then had a shit load of smoke in my truck. I just trying not blow them and I don't understand how this is happening and these Subs have such high rating.

97 u r going to ruin this guys system plz try to help
Im sorry but check your gains(search if you dont know how) make sure everything is wired correctly. If thats all good then its probably just excess glue. If the smell lasts then take it to someone knows their stuff to find the problem.

how long could that last?

I used to run a pair of 12s (for about 2 years) that would frequently get that smell... they never blew though. Just a possibility though... Now I'm thinking people are right on with checking the gains for proper setting... possibly too low of impedance.

You could be underpowering them and CLIPPING them...

You really need to make sure you have them wired correctly and see if your amp can run at that load.

which rating u talkin about the RMS or Peak of the subs?

if ur subs are stinking for 2 years and you didnt do it on purpose

that is not a good thing or normal

a good setup should not be pushed to its thermal limit unless you intend it too

Right now the lowest ohm I can go is 2 ohms currently looking for a amp to power both at 1 or 0.5. Also had the subs box built custom and got the specs from a guy over from Massive. I will check the tuning on the amp. Just don't wanting to keep wasting money send the subs back and forth. Also is there something stronger out there that can take the sam box build and same power. And get just as loud if not louder for around the same price. I paid 300 per sub. Also thanks for everyone help and even enjoyed 97 sarcasm.
