a little gain setting help

Well, i read the gain setting tutorial and have posted about it before. I now, am curious how to discover what the formula is to figure out the amt of volts you want to set it to.

I have my IDQ dvc 4ohm wired to 2ohm and i want to send 500rms to it. How many volts should the DMM read?

Also just recieved the CDT CL-61A/TW24 and plan on running them off of a California Profile 400sx. I have two channels both will want to be set at 100rms x2 @4ohm. What then should the DMM read?

If i could figure out the equation i think i could handle it but i am SOL on this one and need a little help/advice. Thanks guys

multiply the rms watts times the ohm's.Then take the square root of the total and you have the VAC that you should look for on the DMM attached to the speaker terminals of the amp.
