A couple car alarm questions!

I bought a Scosche car alarm/remote start at a mom & pop car audio shop about a year ago. I have a couple questions, might as well ask them both in 1 thread.

1. In the middle of a busy day in the city, my the chirp doesn't sound loud at all. I use it to try to find my car, and I've got to be pretty close to hear it. Usually I see the car before I hear the chirp. I'm sure if the alarm went off it'd be louder, but there aren't ways to turn up a car alarms siren is there? Common sense tells me no, and that everyone would have it at max volume regardless. Maybe a 2nd or more siren is what I need? Maybe I don't need anything? Any recommendations?

2. My car battery went completely dead the other day. Since then, the alarm & remote start are acting funny. Remote start won't work, the car attempts to start but won't stay started. After I close my door, every time, the alarm either activates or deactives, wether I get in or out of my car. So if I go start my car, it locks on me when I close my door. Or when I get in to drive away, it locks me in. Is there a way to reset it, or do I need to call the installer and have him fix it?

While not familiar with your product I would doubt that you can turn the siren up but it is possible to add a 2nd siren.

As far as your second problem I would be willing to bet that the alarm programming reset when your battery went dead. They may have to relearn the tach wire and adjust other options. I would recommend taking it back to the place that installed it.

Can you post a pic of your siren? Alot of sirens are wired so that the chirp is less loud than the actual alarm. On some sirens their is a wire on the back of the siren that if cut makes the chirps much louder. I also think that some scosche(sp) alarms are acually made by compustar. http://www.compustar.com/main.htm go to the site, click on dealer support, click on install manual and look in a manual under siren and it explains what to do.

Hey Denali...I'll post a pic as soon as I find time. And I'll check out that website too. Thanks a lot.

I was just wanted to update you guys and tell you that I replaced my car battery that had gone dead with a Kinetik HC1400 today that I bought from eBay for around $185, and now the remote start works again. So my other battery must not have been holding a very good charge? I don't know how they work.

Anyways, the weird thing is that it's still acting SOMEWHAT wierd in the sense that since my original battery went dead and the remote start wasn't working, whenever I start my car, get inside and take off, the first time I hit the breaks (when the break lights are first triggered) the doors lock. Then when I get to my destination, pull the e-brake on (when the break light in the dash is triggered), they unlock. Seems like some kind of child safety feature to keep the doors locked while the car is in rout? But it didn't do that when the alarm was originally installed, but started doing this after the battery went dead and I popped the clutch to start the car. And it still does this, even with the new Kinetik battery.
