I know, gay title.... get over it.

Anyways, so im married to a guy who spends practically ALL OF HIS TIME on the forums... which i am perfectly fine with.

However, i have absolutely NO idea how car audio works, i mean i have watched him and his friend built the sub box and install all the oz vector stuff, but brand names and "installers lingo" is all i know.

I really am interested in learning about his obsession, and maybe making it my own as well. However, when i ask him questions like what the different types of speaker wire are, how do you know when you need more, less mids and highs...[etc] he just says, don't worry about it, just hand me the screwdriver.

****ITT! i hate this! i really DO want to learn! so if anyone would take a few moments and lend me some tips, maybe books to read or hit me up on aim [mention the thread] id really really appreciate it!

FYI: I will post NO pics of my tits. SO don't waste your time... If you want to see tits that bad....here...:boobies:

Welcome to the forum.

Ask question and get answers. Car Audio is very difficult just to spill.

Since you mentioned wire. There are many different types of wire but speaker wire and power wire are the basics.

The wire gets LARGER as the number gets smaller.

So a 16 gauge wire is much smaller than a 1/0 gauge wire.

P.S. You would have been better off not mentioning that you were a girl :p

thanks ....wish i would have known that. lol

okay so bigger wire=smaller number... check.

A think this one is a bit difficult.... Ground Loops..... what do they come from?

good luck getting help here, mentioning that you were a girl automatically will make you a target for the 14 year old boys that frequent this site.

do yourself a favor and find a different forum, this is one of the largest yes, but far from the most helpful.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

none the less, welcome.

Ground loops.....hrm.

Ground loops is something you hear. Usually an engine noise coming through the speakers. It is usually high pitched and you will hear it more as you push on the gas. This can be caused from numerous things and is one of the biggest pains in car audio for installation. Ground loop isolators can help or moving your ground wire to another location.

P.S. To the poster above me, even if this is a guy *shrug* just asking car audio questions so it doesn't matter.

The reason i came to ca.com is because THIS is the site he gets a lot of his audio stuff and he posts THIS website, so... as you can see, it would be an intelligent move to go where he does to learn. thanks though.

As for the 14 y.o. boys.... i have a scalpel and vinegar.... dont make me take them before you use them.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
