99 Silverado Dash Lights

I just installed a Pioneer DEH-2000MP head deck in my 1999 Silverado. After completion, the dash lights stopped working (they worked prior to installation). I can manually turn them on, however, they are supposed to come on automatically when the headlights come on, i.e. so you can you can see the speedometer and other instruments in the dark. I have checked all of the fuses and they are ok. I have also taken out the Pioneer head deck and put the stock radio back in with the same result...no dash lights. Aside from fuses, I don't know what else would control these lights.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance....

If you can turn them on manually, chances are you pushed a button, flipped a switch, or moved something out of its original position.
