99 Miata, so sound!

My friend bought a 99 miata with the bose package. It has a cd deck, and a tape deck stacked on top of each other. I pulled the top (cd) deck out, and put a reverse wiring harness in, and wired the deck up. It has power, and you can play with the settings and all, but no sound. It's an older deck, so we thought that was the problem. We went and bought a brand new deck, same problem. I am thinking that somehow the lower (tape) deck is causing it to not play somehow. Anyone have any experience with this, or any ideas?

Bose systems have factory amps... they're a bish to work with. Your best bet is just rewiring the h/u straight to the speakers, because bose is a PITA to work with.

In a lot of chevys with bose you can conect the amp wire to the blue wire in the harness and make it work...I'm glad my Miata didn't have that crap in it

thats if the factory bose speakers are Not 2 ohm....

here's an idea,

take our advice, run new speaker wires, it is the proper way to do it. You will need to measure the impedance of the speakers and make sure they are 4 ohm, if not (which most bose aren't) then you will want to replace the speakers while you are at it.

it should be noted that this is not the "correct" way to do this, I give it a few months before either the amp of the HU dies.
