I just got my 98 Chevy Lumina today after it got a lot of mechanical work done on it the last few weeks. I'm going to install the CD Player in it tomorrow and I was looking in the trunk to see how I would install the speakers. Looking in, I saw this long, metal piece that is holding the speakers in, and I can't figure out how I could get that metal piece down to get to the speakers so I can install my aftermarket speakers.
Has anyone done in a 98 Chevy Lumina (or Monte Carlo or Impala which are similar)? I looked around, there's no bolts or screws holding it in, and I saw something that looks like a release lever, but am afraid that could undo the trunk door that it would be hard to put back in.
If it is too much work I'll just take it to the audio store a few towns over and have them do it, but I'm a big DIY'er that I want to do this myself if I can. Thanks in advance to any help, advice, etc. Pictures could help, I couldn't find this with any google search. It was too dark outside to take any pictures of this, but upon request I will take a picture.
