98 Camaro /w Monsoon System, questions about subs, speakers

I have a 98 Camaro with a Monsoon system in it. I want to add all new speakers, 2 12" subs, and 2 amps. I know that having the Monsoon system affects installation, but I was wondering how so?

What do I have to do extra if I want to replace the factory speakers?

What do I need if I want to keep my factory head unit but add subs?

I was also wondering if all the stuff I picked out is decent/good quality.

Polk db's - not great, not bad, but can be found elsewhere for less, or better for the same $$$$

Profile amps - ehhhhhhhh

Sony subs - HELL NO

Box - if nothing else, then maybe.

This box will be better for you. I have a 2000 camaro with this box and 2 12"s. Its very easy to pull the box out if u have to.

To answer the actual questions that you asked:

The Monsoon system uses a separate factory amplifier. When you install new speakers, it is necessary to bypass the factory amp since it won't work as well with aftermarket speakers. The easiest way to do this is locate the amplifier (I think it's under the side panel in the passenger side rear area), identify the input wires coming from the head unit, identify the output wires going to each speaker, then cut and connect the inputs directly to the outputs. A more time-consuming but simpler solution is to run new wire directly from the head unit to each speaker.

Because you're going to be bypassing the factory amp, and because the factory head unit is made to be used with the factory amp, then replacing your speakers means you need to replace your head unit also.

Well since I'm pretty sure I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing anymore I might as well just post a thread for suggestions. All I want is some subs and some new speakers, but I kinda wanted it to match my car so I picked out red/black/white components. I looked at the RMS wattage and price first, but maybe I should have some people here suggest some equipment and some websites. I've only searched Crutchfield because I thought it was a pretty good place, but now I guess I'm wrong. Can someone give me some suggestions of some good stores to shop at?

Now I'm looking for a HU, 4 aftermarket speakers, amp(s) for the subs, 2 12s, and a box..

I kinda liked that q-logic box as far as the way it looked, but I thought it would sound like crap. Can anyone suggest a good box?

its like Best Buy and Circuit city put toghter but much better cusomter service

All the stuff i've ordred from them came to me in 3 days or less (most of the time shipping was free)

sure they charge retail price ...thats becasue its a retail store and you get the full warranty without any worries
