98 Camaro Need Suggestions For HU, Subs, Speakers, Amp(s), Box

I've got a 98 Camaro. I would like to add aftermarket speakers, HU, Subs, etc.

I've already picked everything out, posted it on here, and I was shot down in a second. What I'd like are some suggestions on what to buy, and where to buy them. I don't have a paypal account or an Ebay account, and I don't really want to buy anything off Ebay.

I would like to spend $600-$700 in components, not including wiring, etc. I would like to have 2 12" subs, a box, amp(s) to power the subs, a decent HU, and 4 replacement aftermarket speakers(2 pairs). I'm a big fan of bass.. I listen to almost all Rock/Rap/Techno.

The hardest part of this for me, other than I don't really know anything about car stereos and I'm a noob, has been matching the colors. I really want the LEDs and the color of the HU, subs, and box to match the interior/exterior of my car. The exterior is red, and the interior is black/grey, red, and white.

Thanks in advance to anyone that helps me. It is much appreciated. I've always really wanted to get into cars, car audio, etc. but it's pretty much impossible when you don't really know anyone that has a garage or tools. I've always wanted my car to kinda look/sound like a showcar.

If you need any other information just ask.

i would say 2 Type R Dual 4 ohm version. Get a 1500rms amp at 1ohm. Get a nice ported box. And that would be a good start. I dont know shit about HU or comps
And looking into your crystal ball tells him to go with this? A closer look at his car shows some limitations as to box size. Ideally what works best in this car is a couple of 10's or 12's in a sealed box. Any box for this car is going to be a custom build (or a prefab and hope for the best). Custom building the box to the confines of the vehicle will yield the best results for the sub(s) that you choose. Good bass response is all about the box. A ported box can yield better output levels provided the port is tuned properly. Take the time and learn about box types before you choose subs. Personally as you are new to the scene, keep it simple, start off with a prefab sealed box and put in a pair of 10's or 12's and call it a day until you learn how a system really works. Then do your upgrade from there.

For speakers, 6.75" speakers should be the correct size all the way around. Listen to some of them lin your price range and choose the ones that you like the sound of. For a cd player, I will recommend the Eclipse CD2000 for you. Red / white illumination on a silver / black faceplate.http://www.eclipse-web.com for a look see. Subs are the most expensive part of a system, you can't expect the world from a great sub when it is in the wrong box, paired up with the wrong amp and using too small of a guage or wire.

As I am in Canada, pricing info in your market I really have no idea about. Find some things that will work and then the US members of the site can figure out if it is a good deal for you or not.

Listen to forbidden, he knows his ish.

I would recomend building ur own box for one beefy 12" sub if u have the knowlege, tools to do so. I say this because i have a camaro of my own with 2 12" pioneers and they struggle a bit with really low end bass because the box isnt big enough for them and i cant exactly build a bigger one since space is soo limited with our cars. If u cant build ur own box check out subthump.com. They have boxes for dual 10's & 12's just make sure u get subs that dont require alot of air space cause with 2 ur not going to get any more than about 1 cu ft of air space per sub.

BTW. does does ur maro have the monsoon system? Cause if it does ur gonna want to take it out. Dont hook up aftermarket speakers to the monsoon amp. It will work, you just wont get the performace you'd probbly like. I know from experience //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

one good subwoofer>2 cheesy subwoofers

600-700 isn't reallly alot to work with, speacially since your trying to "color" match, i got lucky with my kicker cvr's and pa lt1440/2 amp both being silver.

however, 1 12" alpine type R will do good justice in a car like your's, there's no need to have 2.

deck's are negotiable, i only work by 3-4 different brands that i trust and know though: Pioneer and Panisonic being the forefront, Alpine and some models of Kenwood shortly following, although i would recomend a Denon....you only have 600-700 to spend, and that won't even buy the hu...LOL

Speakers give you a wide range, if your looking for a good upgrade from stock, pioneer isn't that bad of an option, i'm running some rockford's in my truck right now, and they aren't too shabby either, both are decently solid companies, along with infinity and kicker.

amps.......thats subjective, everyone has their own opinion, i've never had a problem with power acoustics LT line of amps, but i won't touch any other line they have.....if you can find the deals, alpine can work, mtx isn't too bad, but wayy overpriced in the store, JL of course isn't a bad option either, just another WAYY overpriced product, a solid product nonetheless, but NOT worth what they sell for retail.

hope this helps in your quest to find great sound in your car, its up to you to find specific products though, hit up some of your local sound shops to get a listen on some products, try differen't amps they have on display with different combo's of subs, if somethin isn't hooked up at the time, don't be afraid to ask if they can do a demo for you so you can get an idea. the sky is the limit, but beware, alot of shop's charge MUCHO money for products, when you can buy it for almost half the price on the net.

few places of intrest for you, top 2 have some of thee lowest prices i've ever seen though.

http://www.etronics.com

http://www.woofersetc.com

and of course, http://www.sounddomain.com

i recomend staying away from crutchfield.com for obvious reasons, and i don't recomend ikesound.com either, heard too many horror stories to outweigh the good ones, but if your a brave soul, have at it.

what i suggest is durabrand HU, durabrand 12", durabrand "12 build your own box kit, durabrand amplifier, and roadmaster components... Can be purchased at walmarts, total cost of system=$165.

Or if you wanted to go all out on a system... $50 for durabrand Hu, $70 for 2 durabrand 12" subs, $50 for 2 build your own 12" box kits, $120 for 3 durabrand amps, $40 for roadmaster speakers. Total cost $330, and it would have decent spl for that price btw. However sq would be complete garbage.

I never said i'd buy that shit for my car, just an idea for a cheap a$$ system
ok....well....here's a better idea, stop memorizing the products walmart sells, because anybody with a brain on here wouldn't even buy their audio product for paper weights........

I think i'd rather have 27 lightning audio 10" 100wrms subwoofers for a total of 2700 w rms, than one JL 13w7 2000w rms sub for the same price... At least you'd have plenty of paperweights!

for a the car you have go with 1 12" Alpine Type R a 500-750watt rms amp and sone Infinity Kappa Perfect 3 way speakers with an amp thats about 1000 watt max power...i forgot the rms for those speakers..and hu im not sure because i never see a red hu besides the pioneer
