Im putting a system in a 97 silverado for a friend. Looking to put like 750 into it, and get a decent HU and nice set of components and run them off the HU for now, and a nice 12" and an amp to power it.

Has anyone here ever put a system into this type of truck, it doesnt seem like there is much room in the back and im interested to see what other people have done. Also does anyone know what size speakers are in the front...

you can use a 6.5 in the door. you may need to cut out some baffels to mount them up. If you go with a nice comp set you can put the tweeter in the stock location. As far as the sub goes if you are doing a regular cab there is plenty of air space behind the seat for a single 12". Watch out for your mounting depth and you can probably get the seat all the way back with good planning. If its an extended cab there is room under the rear seat for a good 10" that will not get in the way at all.

Thanks alot for the help. It is a regular cab so i guess im going to go with one 12" but im not sure what to get. He listens to mostly rock and doesnt want too much. Any suggestions?

Also if anyone has suggestions on some nice comps in the 250-300 range let me know...

Thanks.

Well if he doesn't want that much just throw one or two nice 10's in there. They will take less power and space than 12's. You can get entry level comps by JL, Quart, Bostons, and others all over the net in your price range. One good four channel amp with built in crossovers and you are done. Two channels for the comps. and bridge the other two channels for whatever sub configuration you decide on.
