I'm assuming a couple of people have done these. The mounting depth on the back speaker isn't all that deep. I need about a 1/4" max more. There is a metal plate back there that is preventing the speaker from fully sitting in the hole. Is it possible to use a hole saw and cut a hole in that plate. I don't think the magnet on my speakers would passed the plate, but that extra space would help. I already have the speakers and was hoping to avoid buying new ones.

What do you think

I went through the same thing in the front doors of my impreza, I just got some 3/4 mdf and cut out some rings so they wouldn't hit the window track, They aren't pretty like those ^^^^^ but they serve the purpose well.

I have a set of spacers but I couldn't get the grill back on. I got them to fit.

I'll answer my own question though. It wont work you'd be cutting where a power window motor mount is.

Thanks
