96 Range Rover HUGE Ghetto Install Rebuild

So a guy i met brought me this range rover today to re-install everything. He told me he just got the truck for real cheap down in SC and youll see why. Heres an equipment list of what im reinstalling

- Alpine 7892 HU

- Alpine Sound Field Processor ERA - G320

- Alpine V-12 DC Straight 4 ch

- Alpine V-12 Expert 2ch

- Rockford 4" speakers up front

- Unknown DVC //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif 6.5" speakers in the rear

So when i got the truck today i looked it over and explained to him how id have to completely rewire everything including the radio etc (all bare wires, trashed, no integration harness) What it looked like is someone attempted to install the amps, subs, HU, etc and had an epic fail 5 minutes into the install. Im talking wires ran straight through the truck, bare wires grounding out everywhere, masking tape on connections, twist caps, unknown hot wires everywhere, 18g speaker wire for power and ground on amps, etc. Another thing is the antenna has been completely removed from the truck somehow, so idk what hes gonna do about that. I may have a universal replacement laying around i can use for him.

My plans -

- Install the sub 2ch amp on rear seat, rerun all RCAs and power wires, etc.

- Rerun speaker wires to all the door speakers, rockford 4" upfront and stock 3 way comps in back

- Attempt to repair all the destroyed trim, etc.

- Make an actual dash kit for the truck from kits i have laying around

My Questions -

- Couldnt find an acc. wire, anyone have an idea what color it is? Im gonna get out tommorow and start testing wires and find out the hard way.

- What the **** kind of DVC door speaker is that? Ive never seen one, makes sense though.

- You guys have any range rover specific install tips for me?

Ill update as i get more done. Tommorow all the new speaker wires are gonna be ran and door panels reinstalled, then ill get onto hardwiring the alpine in and then get on to the amp.

PICS!

Nice equipment but wow. Looks like the dash of most kids Civics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I Kid kid. But seriously, nasty mess.

Yep, that speaker isnt actually DVC, it just has a set of terminals for the tweeter and a set for the woofer. The truck has rockford 4" upfront that im gonna use, and the factory 3 way setup in the back. They have a 3 way crossover built onto the door panel, its pretty cool, dont know how they sound though.

Did this truck at one point have a factory amp anywhere? lol. Im trying to figure out what all the wires go to that are cut. Im guessing theyre speaker wires since all of them are in pairs. Theres also random wires that are crimped together with butt connectors that go to only god knows what.

Man, what a hot mess you got your hands into.
Hope it comes out well. Like the amps and HU and processor. Good stuff there.
Yea i remember reading on here that alpine had some good stuff back in the day, some even better than what they have now. That old ass alpine has 4v preouts on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif I personally dont like alpine though so i dont know too much about them, however they are some badass amps. The 2ch is fused for 60 amps and the 4ch for 30, and just judging by that id say theyre decent. I may talk him into trading me the 2ch in exchange for some labor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Wow that was a mess!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

GL with the build.

i wish i had never told the guy id do this for 100$ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif:crap://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif so far ive got 4 hours of labor into it, so if i get out with 4 more hours or so thats like 12$ an hour, not bad i suppose.

What are you doing here?? Go clean the mess //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Ive gotta go to work now. Ill have to finish this piece of **** tonight. **** im pissed the **** off. Never again will i deal with a ghetto install of this magnitude. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

Yeah but accubass only restores the bass roll off. It doesn't take an incomplete signal range and make it a full range signal.
