95 impala ss

Actually, the Impala was a trim package on a B4U/LT1 Caprice. The Impala added the WX3 trim package. That took off most chrome molding, had different seats, side scripts, spoiler, Impala badging, in 94 it had little rear quarter window fillers, and in 96 it moved the column shifter to a floor shifter. The Caprice 9C1 was actually a little better performance wise than any of the other B-body cars. A good majority of 9C1 cars were B4U and LT1 combos. The 9C1 was the police package. It had upgraded radiator hoses, a separate ***** and oil cooler, and it would shut off the accessories when you needed more power. If you think I'm wrong, research it. These cars consume my life, sadly enough.
Uhm, you aren't disputing anything I said. Unless you are stating the SS was merely a police special with a 'trim package'. But Ive seen no evidence the OP's original caprice was a B4U/LT1 model. And even if it was, the interior alone would probably cost the $1500 the OP payed for the whole car, let alone the tail lights, grill, new trim, etc etc. He just bought an Impala SS in good shape for $1500, the person I quoted suggested cloning his caprice would have been cheaper.... do you agree with that clearly incorrect statement, or are you just arguing to show off your caprice knowledge?

ejschults is a well known member of the impalass forum an he knows a thing or 2 about them an from what he stated its true, ive done research too. the interior stuff and trim on a ss in worth about 1500 not uncluding the engine, *****, body, core parts, even though there is nothing wrong with it in worst case scenaro still 1500 in parts an have some left

I was merely arguing for the sake of argument.I do agree with the fact that it would definitely cost more to do a good clone of an Impala. However, you're still implying that the Impala was it's own unique design from GM when in fact it was a trim level on the Caprice. Buy one, register it, and you'll see. They can be, and often are registered as Caprices. They all had the same options offered, the only difference between a B4U/LT1 Caprice and an Impala is the WX3 trim option. They had the same 4L60E ******, same LT1 engine, same B4U suspension setup, most even had the KG9 alternator, which was used primarily on 9C1 cars for the extra accessories they would run. Now, the 9C1 was a little better performance wise than a WX3. It had separate oil and ***** coolers, upgraded coolant hoses, and it had the ability to shut off the accessories when HP was needed.

Also, thanks Bad4health for sticking up for me.

Caprices and Impalas did not have the same options available to them. To use an example, you could get other, smaller engines in the caprice. Right? So they dont have the same options. What I think you mean is you could purchase a caprice with all the right options to have the impala engine/******/suspension. Which brings us full circle back to what I said originally, that the impala was more than just a trim package: engine, ******, suspension. It is, its a trim package plus all the performance options you could get in a caprice if you purchased them. So unless the OP's caprice happens to be one of those, its more than just an interior/taillight/grill/decal swap. And no matter what options his caprice has, $1500 for the whole, real, impala... was cheaper.
You seem to think Im attacking you, and you need people to stick up for you, Im sorry you feel that way. Im not questioning your knowledge on the topic, or attacking you, Im just trying to point out that you seem to keep missing the point: which was the better choice for the OP to make.

I never suggested the ImpSS had some special frame, body, or mechanical systems solely proprietary. I even mentioned the cop car thing in my previous reply.

Cheers.

all in a days work lol, and to reply to the other guy, yes it was a lt1 that i had before, 9c1s didnt come without it...i think
There were plenty of 9C1s made with the L99 instead of the LT1. They're rare, but you can definitely find them. They were usually dective cars or cars for city officials. The LT1 wasn't always deemed necessary in these applications.

Also, maybe I am missing your point. If you're not attacking me, fine. But the Impala is a trim package that includes the B4U/LT1 options as well as some others. It's like aruing about the difference between a base 2010 Impala LT and a loaded LTZ. They're the same cars where one package just has more options and comes stock with the 3.9 L V6 rather than the 3.5 L. They have different trim, a different interior, one has a column shifter while the other has a floor shifter, leather vs. cloth, Blose vs. AC Delco, etc. Same car, different trim level.

So now it boils down to you want to call it a trim package that includes the performance options as well. That's fine with me, tbh I dont care. I made my point, long ago, that it was a bad idea to suggest cloning his old car rather than buy this one. The rest just feels like semantics to me, that I dont feel like arguing over.

Have a nice day.
