911!!! Help!!

Hey, I just did the wiring job for my car? Looks really good. But plugged in an old Amp and with just the B+ and the Ground it started smoking, it has been laying around for years, so I think there is a prob with the Amp.

Now I am debading on whether I should plug in my new AMP. I mean all I hooked up was the Battery and the Ground, not even the Remote and it started smoking, do you think this is a Amp problem or a Wiring problem?

Help please, I want to finish this up tonight...

Well I had some probs at first because I forgot to plug the battery in, then when I did put it in the amp start smoking, not even with the remote off, so basically, just the two wires made it happen.

One question that I do have is, I am using 8 gauge wire, and I had to make them skinnier when I crimped the connector to it. THat is they only thing I could think of.

It is an old *** Fosgate that I have had laying around for years, I think that the AMP is the prob, but now I am kinda affraid to try it. Also I was touching the ground cable looking for a ground, so it was not a good connection, could that do that??
