3 of the 4 spark plug chambers were completely flooded with oil so i will be changing the valve cover seal today then the plugs and wires

good way to start of the day and week.

now the only things i need for the build is the alt, batteries, and wood to build a box. looks like i should be busy for some time to come!

more than likely a piston ring, hopefully the valve cover does it. i just put plugs in my civic yesterday. what kind of wires are those?

yea im hoping its just the seal around the cover too, i dont remember off the top of my head about the wires but they are from a seller on ebay. they are a lot thicker and feel a lot more durable than the stock wires. hopefully im able to take care of this today.

OK put a little work in last night. First i popped off the valve cover.

cleaned off the oil and dirt that was were the new gasket would be going.

then put the valve cover back on and installed the new spark plugs and wires.

working a dbl shift today so wont be able to put any work in but the plan is to lay deadner tomorrow and Friday and start running the power and ground runs from the front battery to fuse holders in the hatch area.

those motors are a snap to swap out, get yourself a zc, b16, or a b18. car will be a lot more fun to drive and more reliable since it has so many miles

nice job so far...i reccomend you go ahead with DYI paint.. the cost to sand all of that previous crap paint would be alot..

luckily its a smaller car.

im tuned iN!
thanks, yea im am still going back and forth about doing the paint myself. i REALLY want to do flat black but dont want it to look like *** ha ha ha. i guess if worst comes to worst at least i would have already sanded off the two horrible paint jobs it has now huh?

me and my buddy were actually talking about that last night while we were changing the gasket. i might do this after this current build is done.

anyone have any tips as to going the paint job? what grit should i sand with ect. any and all help would be appreciated.

start with like 120..just get it off. then go 320 for light sand no water.

then primer, then use another 320-400 wetsand. (let it soak for 10 minutes, the paper)

then paint, wetsand, and clear coat, wet sand, clear coat again.

the odometer has a lot of miles but the engine is only 3 years old since it was rebuilt. and now that there is no oil in the plugs and the upgraded plugs and wires it actually drives amazingly better. i did not expect such a dramatic difference with such a small fix. i think next up under the hood is gonna be the alt then the short ram intake. or vice versa if i don't think i will need the alt very soon. maybe ill have my girl get the alt for me for our anniversary ha ha ha

thanks for the tips on the paint buddy, i think i am going to take off the hood and try to coat the underside of it to see how it goes. if i do a halfway decent job i will most likely try to do the whole car. if not, back to the drawing board!
