8v output???

Well i hope somebody here can help me real quick. my customer has a Alpine CDE-9853 and it only has single full range output. I had a audio control matrix laying around form my spl days and i have no manual for the pin configuration to turn it into a single in and three balanced outputs. can anybody help please

thanks in advance

Any device added to the signal chain will add noise, especially analog and especially in a car.
Also, an 8v preout rated HU almost never puts out 8v as that's a max rating just like an amp that's rated at max RMS. Based on preout voltage alone, a HU with a hotter signal doesn't sound better than it's lower preout voltage counterpart. If you really want to acheive the most in this area you need a hot signal combined with a low output impedance (like Eclipse.) This topic has been been beaten to death on this and other car audio forums.
Not so. I have an Eclipse CD8455 and at a 1000 Hz 0dB test tone (yes I know, test tone not music) on a volume of 75/80 my DMM read 7.3 volts rms, not max rms.

As for the others thoughts, My sub amp requires a minimum of 8v to reach max output. Phoenix Gold ZPA0.5 My point is that some amps do require or more so need a hot signal.

Fine, but my comment "almost never" still holds true even on really loud music recorded 7 dB down. Point is: you don't get that 8v all the time...just like you don't get your rated power out of your amp all the time. RMS power is not all the time power.

Any anyone who's tested a HU's preout voltage knows that it really doesn't start crankin' until those final clicks of volume, as evidence from ^^^ that test.

I was just trying to knock down what it seemed like you were saying, that is... that a HU would be rated at MAX RMS, or to me it seem as if you ment peak voltage.

I was just trying to clarify, that's why I stated "(yes I know, test tone not music)" as music is dynamic so a HU voltage output would mimic the output of the amp.

Depends on the taper of the volume control, if it's logarithmic like say an Alpine, then the last 5 clicks (out of 35) won't do much.
