'89 Eldorado fiberglass door pods (pics)

holy mess of bondo! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/awesome.gif.4430a219d9aaaa6cadc75e9290979dfb.gif Hopefully you are using some extremely sandable stuff or you'll be at that for hours just getting the big bumps out. But looks good so far, kinda hard to judge until they are complete
Hahaha! That's my friend's work and him in the pic. He said "bondo is my thing" so I let him go at it. Needless to say I did the other one, it's much better. No pics though, I just finished it half an hour ago. I'll make sure he's sanding the one he did tommaro. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

And yes, he has plenty of air tools and a big *** compresser to do the sanding with. Then I'll hand sand them, then cover with carpet or something.

I would have put that bondo on MUCH thinner than that. I like to put it on thin. Mostly because I hand sand 95% of my work. Dries faster, sands easier, and it lessens the chance of waves in the end, which means a better looking finished product. But you are well on your way. Have fun sanding.

That may be true in your case, but not mine.
The better the finished product looks, the more money he's going to pay me. So insead of saved time = more money, it's more like more time spent = more money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif. See what I mean?

It also depends on how drunk he is when he rights the check, lawl.

I think you miss took my statement. But it's cool.

It looks like it is coming along. I like the trimmed down version better.

And I agree that bondo is NOT your friends thing.

FINISHED!

Sanded them down with a rotary grinder thing then hand sanded them-

Then I covered them in this felty-type of cloth, kinda like headliner stuff. He picked it out, not me, but it stretched nicely so it looks good-

And here it is with the speakers in there. Take note that the tweets are flush mounted //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif -

And right after I finished I took them over to the dude's house to get payed and all that, and he doesn't like that the color doesn't match with his door panel. So he might have me rip it off and try a different material. Oh well.

my Q is how to you put them on the door......just drill a hole through it? or is there some way that wont leave any type of permanent damage
He wants me to drill holes through the door panel and the pod and bolt them together. It'll be shaggy(ish) carpet where the holes will be so they won't show up too bad when he goes to sell the car.
