'89 Eldorado fiberglass door pods (pics)

I got payed $200 up front + more once it's finished to do some easy work on my friend's uncle's caddy. He wants me to fiberglass some door pods, run all the wires, and simply install it all. I just started a couple days ago.

Door panels I'm working on:

Tapped up and ready to glass:

Pulled it off the panel and ripped off the tap:

Here are the speakers going in them:

They're boston acoustics. I'm not sure what model, but they're old and probably used. They'll sound good though. I don't have the tweets yet, but they're bostons too.

I know what you're thinking, what's up with all the teaser pics and no pr0n? Well, I did all that work today and yesterday. Then I'm going out of town for a couple days, then I've have 4 days to finish them (deadline). So you'll get the goods soon enough.

Like I said, I'll be getting around $200 for them (at least), tell me if you think this is a fair deal.

$200 is decent.

 

You could do something more eficient for yourself and look really good in the end if you just popped out the existing grill, mounted a ring to it, stretch polyester material over it, resined that, then strengthened that and popped the grill back in the door.

5 hours and $200 in your pocket.

I take pride in my work, I want this done right. I'm going to do it exaclty how I did mine, they look perfect and still do a year later.

You could do something more eficient for yourself and look really good in the end if you just popped out the existing grill, mounted a ring to it, stretch polyester material over it, resined that, then strengthened that and popped the grill back in the door.

IMO i think the grill method would look justas good, also much mich easier to constrruct and assmeble and much quicker,i dont think its half ***** at all

I guess your right. I like to half *** all my stuff and rip off all my customers.

If I wanted to make them fit, I could. But I would have to angle the speakers down so that they're not sticking out in a weird way, or at least verticle. And the guy wants them angled up.

dbornotdb: I didn't mean it that way. I've seen your work, good stuff. This is my first time doing something like this for someone other than myself, so I'm just kinda paranoid about doing them right instead of what's easy.

Cut out the fiberglass molds (tossed alot of the mold I thought I wanted but decided I didn't), made some baffles and mounted them-

Streched some fleece over it and got to work-

I just finished oh...half an hour ago. I've been working all day and all yesterday in 105-110*F weather, not fun. Oh, BTW, the tweets will be flush mounted. And the fiberglass work looks kinda rough, but I was rushed. Air grinder/bondo is my friend.

And here is today's work

After they hardened overnight, I sanded them down a little. Far from smooth, but a good start-

And then I got started on the bondoing-

And that's all I did today. It doesn't look like much, but I worked my *** off. I have to sand all the bondo smooth tommarow and wrap in in some kind of fabric. Bottem line: they have to be done by the end of the next day.
