I currently have two Rockford 12" HX2 subs (500W RMS each, 1000W Peak) running off of a Rockford 800a2 older 90s amp. From reading the documentation, I want to run them at 2-ohms to optimize the power from the amp to the subs. I have the subs wired properly (I think) for a 2-ohm load on their DVCs. I'm just confused about wiring the amp part.
I've tried a few different setups, and I'm not certain I have it done right. The most optimal way to wire it seems to be positive and negative from one of the channels to the subs in a series. If I take the negative from one channel and the positive from the other channel, and bridge it, the amp gets WAY too hot. Sounds great, but too hot. I believe this is a 1-ohm load and I don't want to run that on the amp. Can someone knowledgeable please provide me information for wiring this two-channel amp to these subs properly, at a two-ohm load? Thanks.
