The others have all given good advice I'd say but one other to consider... https://www.skaraudio.com/collections/evl-series/products/evl-65?variant=18454532865 ... The videos I've seen online are impressive, never actually heard one tho..
idk if anyone said it yet but yes u need 4ohm svc or a dvc 2 ohm to bridge 2 channels to it..OK I will look at Sundown. It sounds like my biggest issue is going to be the quality of the enclosure. I have some dense foam, like for a sound studio. I might try to pack it on the outside of the enclosure to dampen any vibrations from the woofer. I have not had the enclosure off the jeep yet so I am not sure how much room behind the enclosure there is, I will check that out. I will maybe see if I can get some corner braces made out of mdf and attach them if I can, brace on the inside and screws from the outside. Would metal corner braces work, attached on the outside with wafer head screws? Just thinking out loud.Maybe metal corner braces with high density foam on the outside of the box, and some sound damping material lining the inside.?
i think i agree with the 6.5" if u don't have air space sub size wont matter.. it's a good looking sub too just tinyThe others have all given good advice I'd say but one other to consider... https://www.skaraudio.com/collections/evl-series/products/evl-65?variant=18454532865 ... Will do. It's not that it's not usable, you can set the sub amp to provide a decent low end, more than the stock sub for sure, but if you turn it up more then it starts to rattle more.Hey Yukon if you figure it out let me know what you did!! Thanks!
I haven't used much skar stuff. A while back I took a chance on a vd15 I put in a single cab ported on a jbl 500.1. I was shocked by it to be honest. But I'm sure my box helped a ton too. So when this my jeep neighbor wanted something that vd8 seemed like a good choice. The skar stuff used to be overbuilt. It keeps going down in quality. The price is attractive, but the real cheap stuff is just that; cheap.
Did an ix 8 on 250w and it blew within a month. Granted its only rated 150w, but gain was set clean.
Another build, ivx 15 on 550w. Gets stinky quickly, even tho its rated 400w, and it isnt being immensely overdriven.
I'm hoping that this is not what happens in my case. My 12" EVL's get low and loud pretty good but I do smell the coils from time to time after playing loud at their max for extended periods... My son's IX 10's take an Skar RP800.1d at 2 ohm pretty well... realistically I'm not sure how much power that amp does at 2 ohms but it keeps him happy and no coil smells yet. Time will tell about the longevity of mine. The skar stuff used to be overbuilt. It keeps going down in quality. The price is attractive, but the real cheap stuff is just that; cheap.
