8" Sub Choices

Hi

Due to limited trunk space, i have to go with a SINGLE 8" sub.

Narrowed it down to 3:

1. Infinity Reference 850W

2. JL Audio 8W1v2-4

3. JBL Grand Touring Series GTO804

Which of the 3 has the best track record?

They are all 4 ohm and between 150 to 200 Watts RMS.

Right now i am looking to buy a Phoenix Gold Octane R2.5:5 to power the sub.

Its a 2 channel and puts out:

4 ohm bridged MAX = 250W

4 ohm bridged RMS = 150W

I have read good things about PG Octane for their price range.

Dont do the reference, they dont do the amount of wattage that they state. I have heard the jbl gto 8" and was not impressed, but no experience of my own. I love jl audio but also no experience with the newest w1 series. Try an old 8w0, same specs and price. You can find them on ebay all day long. If you are looking for louder and have a few dollars to spend, think about the soundsplinter rl-i 8 or the digital designs 1508.

For that power a cheap alternative would be a RE8.

You can get Re 8's on ebay for cheap. good choice

Audiopulse makes some beefy bastards for 8s

yea they are pricey but worth every penny IMO

i think you could go with a digital designs 1508

my cousins has 2 in his dodge 2500 in a ported box and they get loud my cousin has them at 1ohm at 1100 watts with his arc audio foose fd1200.1

they are very nice and hit low notes very nice very impressive little 8

I have a JL 8w3v2 that i was feeding about 220+ watts RMS daily. I havent used it in about a year. It was in a custom downfire box in my truck powered by an alpine m400. sounded pretty good

Thanks for all the great suggestions.

the reason that i listed the particular 3 in my original post is becuase i can pick them up locally. I have had bad experiences with buying electronics online. To make things even more complicated is the fact that i live in Canada.

Of the 3 that i listed, i believe that JL has the best reputation, right?
