I just bought the 12" Alpine Type-R and i got the 4ohm + 4ohm one... which makes it go to either 8 ohms or 2 ohms on the wiring... I cant return the sub and get the 2ohm + 2ohm sub... so im just wondering which one would be better to wire it with...

I got a 600W Max Kenwood amp and im gunna bridge it to give 300W X 1 to this sub.. the sub wants 100-300 W RMS ... so again my question is... 2 ohms or 8 ohms?

Thanks

most amps r 4 ohm stable when u bridge them. so go with the 2ohm+2ohm to get a 4 ohm load for the amp. ur amp will last longer then and u'll be getting 300 watts to the sub

I tried that once on my Kenwood KAC-929 and it kept going into protection like every 10-15 minutes ...
Who knows...maybe on his amp it wont shut down.

When running an amp with a low ohm load, try to keep your "gain" as low as possible, and your input signal voltage as high as possible. This will keep your amp a little bit cooler, and more efficient.

Most amps only go into "protection mode" when they either:

1. get too hot

2. the signal is clipping

3. not getting enough voltage

4. pulling too much current (not enough resistance from the subs' motor, low ohms)

When you have low voltage, the amp has to pull more current to put out the same wattage, so keep your voltage nice and high (but not higher than 14.4). When you pull more current than the power wire can handle, you will blow a fuse, or melt your power wires if you don't have it fused properly.

Most amps will automatically shut off when the voltage gets down around 10 volts. This protects the amps from trying to pull large amounts of current to compensate for the low voltage.

Yeah, if you haven't bought em yet, then get a matching third sub. I would wire them to 1.3ohm, unless for some reason, you have some really...

Follow the wiring diagram for the final 1 ohm load for the 6.5s and the 1k amplifier...

Thank you for all your help and I'll let you know how it all turns out. I'm putting it n a kia optima. I hope that it sounds as good as i think it...
