8 inch subwoofer input please

decided to go with a dual 8 inch setup in my s10. narrowed it down to 2 subs. both would be in around 2 cubes ported between 30-32hz. i thought i had decided on the dayton sub, but the tang band aluminum 8 seems to model up better in winisd, at least ported. in 3 cubes the dayton models up good, but i don't want that large of a box. now i'm leaning towards the tang band. the dayton looks great though.

Tang Band aluminum 8. what would you do?

Remember winISD doesnt account for the vehicle. Either sub will do nicely. Honestly its which one you like better. You could (and will probably have to) EQ the substage to get a nice flat response.

i'll mess with the EQ'ing later, once i replace my crappy alpine components and get a new head unit. i modeled them both in 2 cubes at 30hz, but i'll probably tune the box at 32. maybe 34.

the dayton has slightly lower power handling, according to specs, however it has a larger diameter voice coil, also has slightly higher x-max...

so, I'd most likely choose the dayton..

i had those exact sentiments, until i modeled them both ported. dayton is far better sealed in winisd, so i think that sub was never really built to be ported. i can get a flat response down below 30hz in winisd with the dayton, but that's 2 cubes per sub....double the tang band.

The Dayton sounds wonderful. They have a Qtc that's a little on the high side for stuffing into a vented enclosure unless you can make it large enough and tune low enough to keep it from being peaky. They sound great in sealed enclosures and transmission lines with line length supporting around 26 to 28Hz. They also have quite a bit of copper in the motor so inductance and distortion is quite low. Very musical drivers.

largeness is the issue. winisd is telling me that it needs ported boxes in the 2 cubes per sub range. i could do a 12 in that. what did impress me a little, is that in 2 cubes ported, it's flat to around 25hz, which is lower than alot of 12's.

Is it a reg cab S10?

1 8" in a Tline may do better then 2 8"s ported if you have space.

My buddy had room for 2 18"s and he ran a single 8". Only because he likes small subs.

it's an extended cab. i have a need for the jumper seat though. 3 cubes total is what i have.
