500 watts rms / 12.5 volts is about 40amps

ga should be fine

8 gauge is good for ~55 amps @ 20 feet.

500 / 14.4 = 34 amps. Perfect case.

Assume an efficiency of 70%. 48 amps.

You should be good.

how would using it for speaker wire differ from using it as power wire. 500w is 500w. At a certain voltage, you can calculate current.

the way he worded it made it sound like he is trying to make a trick question. i know that we can calculate current from 2 known sources. but with his knowledge and that easy question, i felt he was trying to create a loop whole with the answers. so i answered it how i felt was neccesary
