8 gauge big enough?

Go with 2 Gauge. I currently have 4 and am thinking I'm going to need to upgrade. If you just want the bx1000d and never add anything else 4 would be OK, but you will add more.

is walmart wire good enough, or will i have to use a certain brand
Wire is wire for the most part. Just look for some OFC (Oxygen-free Copper) and mabye some decent RCAs that have some sort of shielding on them. Walmart sells scosch wiring which is pretty decent stuff from what Ive seen.

Definitly go with 4. If you paln on upgrading later go with 0 then distro block it down to 4. Check out http://www.knukoncepts.com for great wire with great prices especially their RCA's and distro blocks. People keep talkin about 2AWG ive never see 2awg in the car audio world let along any sort of connectors for it.

Hey, nice mustang by the way. Mine is a '98 GT and it has the same interior. I fit 0/1 guage in it fine. Mustang interiors are extremely easy to take apart, everything just pops off. So Im sure you shouldnt have any trouble.

Ive been through like 5 setups in less than a year. Ive had atleast 6 decks, and changed my front speakers for the second time already. I have a beautiful RE HC 15" sitting in my living room right now waiting for my Kove amp in the mail. Anyway, what Im trying to say, get the lowest guage wire you can afford because you never know what you will get next. My last MTX amp fit 0 guage.

its http://www.knukonceptz.com Don't get 4 ga, you may as well get the serious stuff while you are rerouting anyway. Get some 0 gauge or so. I'm baffled that you still don't know this stuff with the amount of time you spend on this forum... **** lounge...
Man, that was my thought too. I figured something like that he would of known, but i looked on the bright side of it, atleast now he is learning.

And i also agree, if you are one of those people like me who keeps constantly changing their setup, then go ahead and go with 0 gauge. Then you wont have to ever worry about it again. Because changing from 8 gauge, then 4 gauge, then if u ever decide u want to have more power and want 2 gauge or 1 gauge, that 0 gauge would be plenty and would save money in the long run. But if you are pretty consistant on your set up then go ahead and run 4 gauge, but i'd atleast do 2 gauge.
