$700 box?

Hey everybody. I got two m3mojo 15's and i went to my local shop to see about getting a box built. Well i was unplesantly surprised when he quoted me at like $700 to build it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif . That seems a little steep to me i was just wondering what everybody here thought. He said they needed to have double layered 3/4" thick walls that he wanted to fiberglass the wheel well and mate it to the box for added airspace. I drive a lexus sc300 (car) and im goin for ported if that makes any diffrence as far as space goes. Thanks in advance for any input as it is appreciated.

Get one of the guys on here to make one for you. It sure as hell won't cost 700$. What a rip off. Unless it was a complete custom crazy idea then maybe. But for just a box, too much.

mdf box for 2 x 15 = $80 in materials + a couple hours labour =$160.

$700 is a joke.

I would make it a point to call them and tell them you were really unhappy with the price they quoted you and that you dont like being 'taken for a ride' I for one hate to see local shops get shut down but then you have shit like this and it just makes people want to order online regardless because the local guy tries to screw them.. Been like that at 2 out of every 3 shops I have visited over the years.

Check out bjfish or iammp3pimp they both do some really good work and I will probably use one of the two in the future.

Worth it for daily driving, no.

he is trying to tax you on the fiberglass, and you have to remeber the same $20 sheet of mdf you buy at the home center the shop is gonna charge you $30-35 for because of markup. but yeah i would read up and build ur own.

umm how can you fit two or even one 15 into a SC300??? I would be willing to bet that for the work and materials it would require he was really close...Anyone who says "oh mdf costs a couple bucks rip off" doesnt realize what your trying to do. I almost got a sc400 but didnt cause of lack of space for subs...

yeah that 700 is understandable you figure 4 gal of fiberglass resin, 2 sheets 4x8 MDF, 8 fiberglass cloths, brushes, buckets, acetone, tape, etc... and labor... could easily add up to $700 if not alot more i was thinking somewhere in the 1.2k-1.8k range
