6x9's or 6.5's??

I have an odd setup, why? because the car is a 90 caddy, and speaker mounting isn't for shiat. In the back they have a place for 6x9's, I heard somewhere where 6.5's componets would do a better job in the rear, and somehow I need to put pods or something in the front, as the doors have NO ROOM for any kind of speaker. Your thoughts? Thanks

I changed the 6x9's in the back from stock to some Rockford Fosgate's, but I don't think they are that good, but better then the ones that were in there. No it's not stock, I have an Eclipse CD5000 for a HU, I made a make-shift center counsel and put in 6.5's, and in the trunk is a RE SX 15" sub. The amps are an Orion for the 4chanel, and had an Orion for the sub, but getting something different, as it was a 5 finger discount. I know this isn't a perfect match of speakers, but the best I can do right now. Just looking for some solid and loud music fill.

I won't help you anymore.

The "Five Finger Discount" was used on me!! I had an Orion 2500 to power that sub and someone lifted it, the only reason I didn't have the other one stolen was that it is bolted down. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

I made a center counsel, and I put 2 6.5's in it. It's not custom or anything. Problem is the one speaker is facing the passenger door instead of me. I looked at the univeral Qform's but I don't think they will accept a 6.5 speaker? I wish I had a digital camera, I could show you what I mean.

I think I understand. By putting two component sets in a car, and dedicating one set to the driver and one set to the passenger, if cancellation wasn't a problem this would be near perfect staging.

Behold! Mighty poor Paint skills!

EDIT: Maybe not, you said you had no room in the doors for speakers, and you made no mention of kickpanels. So all you have in the component set in the middle of the dash? That would be... interesting...

The speakers in the dash in front are junk, and they are real small. Anyway you drawing is close to what I have, although no speakers in the kick panels either.

The kicks are real small, not enough room for anything(lol) and the doors have an arm rest that goes the length of the door. I have like 5 inches total to the bottom of the door. Sigh

You could fit something like 2" midranges or 3" fullranges in the corners of the dash. This would take care of mids and highs. The midbass could be handled by the 6x9s in the rear (Did I mention Tang Band 6x9 woofer?) and subbass handled by the woofer.

This wouldn't be the greatest option for staging, since midbass is in the rear, but I've done it before with the 2" mids I linked to and had good results.
