Featured 6X9 Suggestions

Looking for a site that sells maybe clearance or discounted 6X9's. Just need one pair for a Jeep project. The factory rear have been removed due to a custom roll cage, so might just do some cheap boxes like the picture attached. Though if you have other suggestions, please post.

Price wise, figure something that would normally be $100 - $150 per pair, but discounted.

I have an Alpine HU and small amp, Alpine ktp-445u (45W X4)

The front dash has JL 5.25" Coax

If you're going to install them in those boxes, I would recommend getting a cheap pair of 2 or 3 way Pioneer speakers. Those boxes are too small to allow any decent bass from a 6x9. Also, you're only working with 45 watts per channel.

Is there a better set of boxes I could use? I'll take a look at Pioneer options.

The vented seems like a good idea. I'll have to get some measurements.
Don't complicate it. Stuff them with polyfill, close the vent and use the added volume. Most 6x9's are designed for IB anyway. Chances are the tuning frq will be way off optimal. Just stuff and seal, done. You could try and add one of these on each box. I have done this with pretty good results.

Found someone willing to give me a pair of Kenwood 4-way KFC-6986, I would just have to pay shipping. They have a 'super tweeter' and look a little obnoxious. Initially told him I'd pass, but figured I'd see if anyone here has heard them. Seems like they would be harsh sounding. Though with poor hearing and bad acoustics in the Jeep, maybe they would be ok.

I really wouldn't mind paying $100 for a pair that would be 'one and done'. But I like free too. I've even questioned if 3 way is necessary, but 4 way? Why?

Don't think I'd do the passive radiator. Might be good if space wasn't an issue, but with the boxes, I'd have to cut another hole (I assume) and not wanting to do that.

Like what was just mentioned, 6x9 were designed to fit in extremely large spaces or infinite enclosures. Basically, they are designed to go mount onto the rear deck, of a car, and use the trunk as a box. I installed a lot of these boxes in Jeeps. I'm out here in N. Cal, so I worked on a lot of rock crawlers. What I found to work better, in those boxes, are 6x8 or 6.5 speakers. I would fill the boxes with polyfill. Those speakers are designed for smaller car doors.

I cannot personally stand any coaxial that is more than a 2 way. This is going to be horribly bright and tinny sounding
