67 Camaro - can't cut it

I have an older Camaro with the factory AM radio in it, and I don't want to cut into the car at all. I also want to keep the car original looking as possible. Here is my plan buy a secretaudio head unit (http://www.casmfg.com/Secretaudio.htm), put it in the trunk and run the remote to the glove box. I also am planning on buying the IPOD kit so I can plug an IPOD, Satellite, etc into it.

My problem - there is a place to mount 6x9's in the back from the factory; and that is it. I do have the original speaker in the center of the dash, but I want to keep the AM radio functional for car shows. I realize the head unit is not going to win any competitions, but anyone have any opinions as to what speakers to get and where to put them to make the best sound? Should I buy a 3 way set of 6x9's and put a box in the trunk and amplify the secretaudio head unit? Should I get 2 way's and hide tweeters upfront? Should I put speakers under the front seats? I know there are repro kick panel pieces with built in speakers, but they would be dead giveaway they weren't there from the factory.

I have been wanting to do this for some time, but haven't figured the best way to go about it.

ive actually done an alpine radio in the glove box of a 65 mustang wasnt too hard. as far as speakers i dont think anything will look stock. i glassed a pair of kicks for the 65 as well and did a complete trunk set up i have some pics as well. good luck

Buy some aftermarket Kick panels and do a custom mount shallow mount kick panel speaker install...put the originals kicks away in a box....The kick panels won't really get noticed at a car show but the sound will .....in the factory rear 6x9 location add a 6x9 subwoofer for better low end.....then discretly mount a small subwoofer amp in an outta way location...make sure your front custom kick panel speakers are bi-amp able that way you can split your factory deck power 4 ways to get decent sound out of the kicks....You factory AM radio should remain functional

be a man and leave it alone the cars 8 cylinders is the only sound system you need
Ha! I have already got that from my brother, except he called me more of a "feminine" name. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks I will think about the kicks, but not sure I want to go that route. Good idea on mounting in the glove box, I will measure tonight.

So from what I am hearing you guys think I will need speakers somewhere in the front? I am going to get 6x9's and build a box for the trunk for sure now.
