6.5's or 6x9's

I was wondering what one would be better of my rear speakers, 6.5's or 6x9's? I know that 6x9's will offer me more bass or mid-bass than the 6.5's, but i am looking for more clarity out of my system. plus i have a kicker comp vr 12 in the trunk so that should supply enough bass already. I was wondering if there whould be a big difference if i used one or the other and which would be best?

6x9's should provide more bass, if u find the right speakers.

its all depends on the build of the speaker. Some 6x9's are built for base and some have tweeters in that for a more clear sound. That 6x9's would be a little bit more sound but it all depends of the type of speaker.

They aren't built for "base" they have more cone area which physically gives them more bass. You can get 2 and 3 way 6.5"s as well. As far as which speaker size to go with that is up to you and your system and what brands you are looking at. 6x9s are more likely to receive distortion with less power than a 6.5" due to the cone shape so if you are looking at lower end equipment I would suggest the 6.5"s. 6x9s can get louder and deeper than a 6.5". Go to your local audio shop and listen to their speakers. See what you like and get those. Make sure they don't show you the speakers powered by an amp if you don't have one or vice versa. Match up the quality power you will be sending them as best you can.

6.5's sound infinitely better than 6x9s in my opinion....
